Accessibility Statement
1. Our commitment
Engine is built by a small team, and we want the app to work for as many people as possible, including people who use assistive technology like screen readers, switch control, or voice control. This statement describes where Engine's accessibility support stands today, honestly, including what isn't finished yet, and how to tell us if something isn't working for you.
2. What's currently supported
- Interactive elements (buttons, form fields, tab navigation) are labeled for screen readers like VoiceOver (iOS) and TalkBack (Android) across most of the app.
- The app respects your device's text size and contrast settings where the underlying platform supports it.
- Engine's color palette (in both light and dark mode) is chosen for real contrast between text and background, not just visual style.
- Dark mode is available system-wide, useful both as a visual preference and for reduced light sensitivity.
3. What's not there yet
- Engine hasn't had a dedicated accessibility audit or a full VoiceOver/TalkBack walkthrough of every screen, so some screens may have gaps we don't yet know about.
- Some custom visual elements (like the gauge/dial progress rings) may not yet describe their value as clearly to a screen reader as a native progress control would.
- We haven't yet tested with Dynamic Type at its largest sizes across every screen, or with Switch Control.
We're not going to claim Engine fully meets a formal standard like WCAG 2.1 AA today, because we haven't verified that against every screen. That's a plan, not a claim, and we'd rather say so than overclaim.
4. Tell us what's not working
If you use assistive technology and run into something in Engine that doesn't work the way it should, we want to know. This is the fastest way for us to actually find and fix real gaps. Email info@tryengine.app with what you were trying to do, what device and assistive technology you were using, and what happened. We'll respond and let you know what we're doing about it.
5. Changes to this statement
We'll update this statement as Engine's accessibility support improves, and we'll update the date above when we do.
